Choosing a hotel in Phi Phi

A Resort Hotel in Phi Phi

Where to choose a hotel in the heart of the action?

In the center of Phi Phi Don, or even better, in the heart of Ton Sai village... but in that case you'd better bring earplugs or very little sleep, because this is where the action is!

Ao Lo Dalam is home to some of the cheapest accommodation on the island, very close to the popular bars and a ten minute walk from the beach bars.

The larger hotels that share "Ton Sai Bay", a narrow strip of land in the center and west of the village, can also be a good option for lovers of wild nights (e.g. "Phi Phi Island Cabana" or "Phi Phi Hotel"). Just a few minutes' walk from the village, they rub shoulders with the very popular beach bars, where tourists dance the night away to the orange glow of fire jugglers and the frenetic rhythm of electro music... which you're bound to hear from your hotel room, and which may put some off.

Loh Dalum beach in Phi Phi

Where to choose a hotel away from the hustle and bustle?

Lovers of peace and quiet have plenty of options on the small island of Phi Phi Don. As soon as you get away from the bustling Ton Sai Bay, the coconut palms sway to the sound of the surf (...and the noisy long tails, the island's water taxis) on beautiful, unspoiled and secluded beaches. Choose your own little piece of paradise:

Long Beach, a long stretch of white sand southeast of Ton Sai Bay. It's the closest beach to the village.

Phak Nam Bay, on the east side of the island. The bungalows at Phi Phi Relax Beach Resort offer seclusion and heavenly surroundings at an affordable price.

Located in Loh Ba Gao, between Long Beach and Laem Tong Beach. SAii Phi Phi Island Village Hotel enjoys an exceptional location on this secluded beach where there is little tourist activity.

At the far northeastern tip of the island, the pristine Laem Tong Beach has the allure of the Robinson's End of the World. Laem Tong Beach is home to some of the island's most beautiful and luxurious hotels. Restaurants and grocery stores in the small sea gypsy village.

But beware: as the Phi Phi islands are completely closed to motorized traffic, these remote beaches are often only accessible by water taxi (long tails), which charge a fixed fee that is non-negotiable - or very difficult to negotiate. To reach Long Beach from Ton Sai Village costs 150 baht one way. To go further, the fare is negotiated according to the length of the trip. Long tails also travel at night and many offer their services at more remote beaches. Click here for good deals on long tails.
