VIDEO: TONSAI VILLAGE
A SMALL THAI VILLAGE AT THE CROSSROADS OF THE WORLD
The heart of the island of Phi Phi Don is located in
Tonsai village, a tangle of streets - where it is sometimes difficult to find its way - surrounded by a multitude of shops,
restaurants,
cafes and bars. Butter croissants, nordic meatballs, pizzas cooked over a wood fire, french wines ... It's crazy the number of expatriates here who opened their small business, giving Ton Sai a je ne sais quoi of crossroads of the world.
Of course, you will find local family restaurants and street stalls, tasty and cheaper. Take time to stroll
the market, there are food stalls where you can find attractive products every day. You can eat for less than 30 baht a variety of Thai specialties, cooked on site and sold to take away.
At night, the atmosphere is intense, as the music escaping from the beach bars. Around tables and chairs planted in the sand, young acrobats
juggle with fire. Lovers and romantics will find a few quieter bars along Tonsai bay or Lo Dalam Bay. Refer to our page "
bars on Phi Phi Island".
IN THIS VIDEO
Holiday mood in this sequence, which invites you to stroll the narrow streets of Ton Sai village, as if you were there. The walk begins at the pier of
Tonsai bay, and continues east along the main street, the busiest of the small town, with restaurants, snack bars, boutiques, jewelry, dive, tourist offices ... This is also where long tail drivers congregate, especially when ferries arrive from Phuket and Krabi.
At the end of the trail, the streets are scattered haphazardly. French bakery, cafe bookstore, Thai restaurants, Norwegian restaurants, Danish restaurants, Italian restaurants... And everywhere, cats, lying just anywhere, on the stalls, in front of entrance doors, on the street. At the end of Tonsai village to the east lies
Loh Dalum Beach and, further, the road to the hill and Phi Phi Viewpoint. From there, You can see the high cliffs of Phi Phi Leh, hiding the
secret beach of Maya Bay, one of the most beautiful in the world.
